Just what is it about me?…
An all-American girl at heart, I was raised in a small town just a few hours outside the city. At eighteen, I packed up and moved myself to New York, and I’ve called it home ever since.
I’m a student, writer, model, and entrepreneur, which means my desk is usually covered in an improbable combination of books, half-finished ideas, beauty products, and at least three cups of tea. I’m deeply ambitious, but hopelessly susceptible to anything beautiful, interesting, or slightly impractical.
I’m an avid reader with a particular weakness for classical literature, mythology, and philosophy—especially the sort of book that follows you around for days after you’ve finished it. I can happily lose an afternoon wandering through a museum, and I’m endlessly fascinated by people who know something I don’t.
I also have a tendency toward rather intense hyperfixations. Give me an interesting subject and I’ll disappear down the rabbit hole until I know far more about it than any reasonable person needs to. Lately, artificial intelligence has become one of those fascinations. I’m captivated by the strange intersection of technology and humanity, how quickly the world is changing, what we’ll create next, and what all of it might mean for the way we live, work, make art, and connect with one another.
Music occupies another large corner of my life. I play guitar, love discovering new artists, and have a soft spot for evenings when someone puts on an album and we actually listen to it from beginning to end.
For all my more cerebral pursuits, I’m wonderfully girlish. Fashion and beauty are genuine pleasures of mine, and I adore the ritual of getting dressed for somewhere special. I have weaknesses for flowers in the house, beautiful lingerie, perfume, old jewelry, impossibly soft sheets, handwritten notes, and restaurants where dinner somehow stretches to three hours.
Travel brings out my spontaneous side. Give me somewhere beautiful, a suitcase, and very little itinerary, and I’m perfectly happy to see where the adventure takes me.
At home, things are considerably less glamorous. There’s usually a precarious stack of books on my nightstand, a guitar within reach, something unnecessarily elaborate cooking when I probably should have ordered dinner, and my adorable dog behaving as though every surface in the apartment belongs exclusively to him.
Beauty may be part of my world, but curiosity is probably the better explanation for who I am. There is always another rabbit hole to fall down, book to read, place to disappear to, song to learn, or person worth discovering.
And if you ever feel inspired to surprise me with a little something, you can find a few of my favorite things on my Throne wishlist.
